Thomas Buchanan is a UK based luthier with over 35 years building Folk instruments and historical reproductions. He specialises in hand-crafted Fretted Instruments and Acoustic Lap Steel guitars. He prides himself on creating and supplying quality instruments which are played and loved by many great musicians all over the globe; Instruments which have evolved through his many years of experience in the industry building, playing and repairing Electric, acoustic fretted and lap style guitars.

Thomas first got interested in Weissenborn when he  met Ed Greenfield owner and ceo of Anderwood guitars. At that time Ed was importing factory made lap steel guitars but had a burning desire to produce an exacting copy of the authentic H. Weissenborn from the 1927 design. He had already done over 2 years of research and development and was looking for a luthier to partner with and start producing.  Thomas spent the next few months with Ed bringing it all together and carefully disecting and measuring the Authentic instruments that Ed had in his collection. Together they produced the Anderwood Authentic range. A few years and almost 50 instrument later, Ed had decided to move on to other interests and it was agreed then that Thomas would carry on under his own brand. Ed and Tom remain good friends to this day and Thomas enjoys and values his continued support.

Each Authentic range model is handbuilt at our workshop in West Yorkshire UK.  Is set up and played to make sure that our high standards are reached every time on every model and that you are getting only the best.
